Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

An International Energy Company is looking for a Chief Financial Officer with more than 15 years experience.

Description Purpose Statements:
The position will contribute towards the strategic development of the business and the achievement of financial objectives. The position will also lead the accounting and finance functions for all the companies within the Group with a view to ensure compliance and professionalism.



Key Deliverables:
• Develop and implement a strategy for the future direction of the Finance division.
• Improve the financial systems and procedures within the organisation
• Compile finance and treasury policies that outline strategies, standards, roles, procedures and controls.
• Create a culture within the company where finance is included in all commercial decision making
• Review the budgeting process and streamline the planning process while imposing budgetary discipline and effective financial forecasting for the Group.
• Ensure adherence to Group accounting and financial policies.
• Present periodic Group financial report to Executive Management
• Liaise with business unit heads to ensure compliance with corporate controls and financial guidelines.
• Through effective cash forecasting, assure the adequacy of funds sourcing and banking support for the Group ensuring the availability of funds through effective banking relationships and enhancing treasury management systems.
• Negotiating and arranging outside financing when necessary.
• Manage processes that deliver reporting to executive management including the identification and implementation of all applicable IAS and IFRS.
• Ensure compliance with all Government and regulatory agencies
• Active participation in the implementation of the Group ERP systems
• Liaise with IT to build a platform for enhanced management information processes to provide full risk management of the business with ERP support.
• Periodically review structures within all Finance departments of the various companies
• Liaise with company heads on the formulation of medium to long term financial objectives and plans.
• Review operating companies operations to make recommendations on increasing business efficiency
• Analyse potential business development areas to assist decision making.
Skills Knowledge/Skills:
• High analytical skills to review and analyse business processes to identify control deficiencies as well as business operating problems and opportunities.
• Thorough understanding of business strategy, organizational design and other business functions
• Link decisions to business goals and will operate by keeping the entire enterprise in mind.
• Experience in establishing controls and accounting policies in a rapid growth environment.
• Proven ability to implement and effectively utilise technology in order to streamline processes, improve efficiencies and increase company productivity.
• Excellent understanding of IFRS and NIGERIA Accounting Practices
• Ideal candidate will have a proven track record of delivering positive results in a timely and accurate manner.
• Possess exceptional communication and presentation skills, coupled with proven leadership and staff development skills.
• Posses a management and leadership style that must be one which empowers staff and peers to use their talents and take action. Encourage growth, achievement and ownership of responsibility among team members.

Minimum Qualification / Experience:
• B.Sc. in Accounting or related field with minimum of 15 years experience, 4 of which should be in a senior management capacity
• An MBA or MSc (in related field) is desirable.
• ACCA certification or equivalent
