Legal Manager/Advisor

Description An E&P Company in Lagos, Nigeria is currently recruiting a Legal Manager/Advisor.

Objectives:
• The incumbent of this role is to ensure that the Group as well as the companies within receive qualitative and proactive Legal Advise. The incumbent will be will have practical experience in Oil & Gas matters in particular as well as general corporate commercial practice in general. The successful candidate will also have a working knowledge in Litigation.



The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following:
• Responsible for translating business requirements as defined by local/international regulators of different industries that Sahara is exposed to into legal specifications to be understood by the functional heads.
• Ensuring that the Companies within the group operates within the confines of the laws and obtains all necessary permits and licenses to so operate.
• Gathering regulatory requirements from within the company and from the external environment e.g. from regulators
• Create the required documentation and providing the requisite legal advise for the performance for the Company Secretariat.
• Advise on implications of various corporate governance recommendations and the mechanisms for the company’s adoption of same
• Create and maintain beneficial relationships with all relevant legal, quasi-legal and regulatory bodies which the company liaises within its adherence to the law
• Advise on the company’s position with respect to global markets and methods for gaining credence with international regulators and agencies.
Skills • Degree in law, called to the Nigerian bar.
• 6 years of relevant experience and 10 years post call
• Strong knowledge of holding company practices, including energy, power, and property
• Strong IT knowledge: Word and Excel skills
• A good team player, who is eager to learn and to work autonomously in an diverse environment

• Committed to accuracy and completeness
• Customer- and service-minded with good communication skills.
