Objective:
The Technical Services Manager (TSM) is primarily responsible for the management of all rigs related projects (Refurbishments and Routine Maintenance) through the supervision of Electrical & Maintenance Supervisors with a view to providing timely, cost effective and quality technical support for all rigs operating by the company.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities to be carried out will be varied. These will include, but not be limited to the following:
• To provide an adequate level of technical support of all OES Rigs
• To liaise closely with Operations/ Rig managers in all relevant matters e.g. REA, RMA, Stability and Major Projects.
• To ensure experience transfer regarding matters of a technical nature is being transmitted to all key members of the maintenance crew.
• To allocate available resources and provide guidance, in the preparation, execution and follow-up of projects to include classification surveys, modifications and upgrades.
• To assist the Business Development Unit in the preparation of bid documents and recommending technical solutions in accordance with company procedures.
• To provide assistance for updating technical documentation including drawings, data books, certificates and instruction manuals.
• To provide guidance regarding the adherence to operational limits in special circumstances and to assist in the preparation of calculations and analysis as appropriate.
• To give technical support and advice to line management such as Operations, Human Resources, EHSQ, Supply Chain, Finance and Business Development.
• To assist with the preparation of annual budgets for the units, as well as budgets for special projects, yard stays and classification.
• Keeping up to date with legislation, codes of practice and guidelines for the industry.
• To act when required in the role of Technical Advisor as part of the Emergency Response Team or provide designate.
• Periodic major review of the Technical Manuals for accuracy of content and to take account of changes in legislation, technology and industry best practice.
• To provide an on-call rota system for Technical Support out with normal working hours.
• To ensure implementation of Company SMS within department.
• To ensure adequacy of training within department.
• To provide resources to enable auditing of rigs w in accordance with the group’s audit policy and procedure, when requested.
Skills: A University Degree in Engineering preferably in the Field of Mechanical or Electrical Electronics Engineering.
• Minimum of 12 years experience in Offshore drilling operations of which a minimum of 4years must have been spent in a senior supervisory role or managerial role.
Remarks: • Directly reports to Rig Operations Manager.
- Supervises - Electrical and Mechanical Maintenance Supervisors respectively.
